back when i fished thru the ice in upstate NY , we would tip a jig with a maggot until we caught a yellow perch - then it was pop the eye out with yer thumbnail and catch the fire out of them. Brings back some good memories - great catch by the way.
the fish in the first pic---anybody know what it is? It looks to be a cross bread b/w a goggle eye(warmouth) and a sun perch( pumpkinseed). THe next pic is a sink full of gill filets from 2 days ago. Anybody out there got any pics? I would love to see them and any reports from any action taken place on the water. The group of fish in the largest pic were from the first days of may. Just a tip- for whatever reason I find when it comes to worms that earthworms seem to work better than cool cats or red worms. I think that the freshness gives them more of a smell attractant in the water. Want to try something different, get into some fish and pop an eye out of one on your hook. I generally catch a good fish on eyeballs. I know it sounds crazy but just try it sometime, you'll be suprised. Keep the corks a flushin'!

That fish in the first pic is what i think is a "green sunfish". If I'm wrong someone will be along shortly to correct me. We have them here too. Nice catch.
always Keep a sharp hook.
I believe he is right- green sunfish. They crossbreed those with bluegill to get the big hybrid gills you find in farm ponds. BTW, they taste great!
Pic #1 looks like a shellcracker / pumpkinseed / lava lamp hybrid.
Great catch!:D i think #1 is a pumkinseed.
Good catch tate3300. I bet that was a lot of fun catching all them little scrappers and some real good eaten aswell. Welcome to the board too. Keep up the good work!
honey.'':o the weather is to bad to work in the yard so I think I'll go fishing''
Nice bunch of fish...
Today is only yesterday's Tomorrow!
I had never seen one of those until I moved to Arkansas. I catch them around rocky areas more than anywhere else. My father inlaw says they are called "rice slicks". And, he claims they are excellant eating. I have been along banks where they would be all I would catch. Their body cavities take too much room for them to be called a good catch for me. But, they are tasty and good fighters. I see quite a few reports that they are good trot line bait too.
