    The only reason why I posted this topic and updates is so that folks know what to expect if it happens to them and can learn from this. Really I’m not too concerned any more. It will resolve itself eventually.

    Not that it really matters any more but I decided to look the rod over a little closer and I saw that the upper section blank is also damaged. There is a slight crack in it. As it is stored in the rod pouch, the smashed rod guide lines up with crack in the blank. I filed a claim with PayPal. I’m guessing that the process will speed up a little.
