I have that rod in med light. I love it for large gills, and white bass.
Ugly Stik Elite Spinning Rod
want to purchase for pan fish. The ultra lite vs medium lite
Using 6 lb test on president spinning reel
which would be the better option
you guys have been around more waters than me Thanks

If you can put your hands on both rods, give them a good shake and tip test, then decide about how each will be used in your pursuit of said Panfish. Too whippy, choose the ML, too rigid choose the UL. Float fishing, cast and retrieve small jigs, live bait, all factor in the action rod you might choose.

After further review looking looking into Daiwa Presso and Bass Pro
micro lite and Shakespeare Microlite
The Bass Pro Microlites are decent rods for the money. They usually go on sale at the big spring fishing classic.

And....if Bass Pro has the rod trade in credit this year as they have in the last several years, you can take a pole you do not use or is older and get a 10$ trade in value towards the Microlite. They take the traded in rod and donate it to charity, a win win situation. Further advantages to the Bass Pro rods, if you are located near a store, you can put the rod in your hands and try the different actions. I prefer the 7ft ML, not a buggy whip and plenty of backbone for the big bullies.

My dad loves the daiwa presso rods for his crappie fishing and I have had several bps micro lite rods over the years... those get my vote

I agree with Stans statement, don’t buy anything you don’t handle first. I also have had at least one of every Shakespeare micro spinning rod between 4’6” and 7’. Given away the 4’6” and 5’, too short for the way I fish. The 5’6”, 6’, and 6’6” really shine for casting and the 6’ and 6’6” also do well for float and jig. At less than $20 they work very well for most everything I’ve targeted along with the unexpected species that come along. I’ve never used line heavier than 6lb, used mostly 4lb, and have a 5’6” now with 2lb crappie mono.
I know this doesn’t help with the ugly stick, but I just don’t like them. When I flip them in the store I feel the muscle on the top of my forearm working to control the rod. Doing this for long periods fatigues my arm and my casting accuracy suffers. This isn’t the case with the micro series. I hope you get to handle both and find what you’re after. Just my opinion.
