So you can jig them for crappie?

I use to use them for trout fishing thru the ice in northern Wisconsin. They flutter down when vertical fishing , pb rainbow was 12# 4 oz. Have been using them on Toledo Bend and they will kill the crappie . Mine were a little bigger and had a #10 stinger in the tail.

What granite said. I’ve used different spoons in the past in the same way he described with very good results. Follow it down after the lift and be ready, most of my hits came on the fall. Smallmouth liked em too.

are they American shad is the question ?
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whales
Here in FL we get American and Hickory mixed. Heard there’s a difference in the jaw structure that will tell which is which, and the Americans can go to 10+ lbs. None of what we caught were anything close to 5 so I can’t say what they were. Need a trip with a shad guru to give me some mo smarts on the subject. Never got a one yesterday. Don’t know where they went but I can talk of where they weren’t. Chased Crappie instead and that was kinda weak too. Next trip is to check on my friends with the spot on their gill.
