There is tons of choices, Someone will come thought with a good answer. I use a 8' med/light rod for that purpose.

I would tell you to get an 6' 5" "Hard" model Truzer...but it is no longer made. I would take a good look at the N-One 6' 6" "Hard" model from Major Craft. It can handle 12 grams. Those "Hard" model ajing rods from Major Craft have some serious power to them.

I bought a light action 7’ rod, one piece, at academy and while it turned out just a bit stiffer than planned, it throws a 1/8 jig with abandon and has done well with the sea trout I’ve caught on it. The soft tip and firm mid section would make it a good drop shot rodIMHO. About to snooze but I’ll get the info off of it and post tomorrow. It was $50 and is well made, very light in hand.

I bit the bullet and ordered the suggest rod from Alphahawk... was looking at quite a few different ones in the 300 plus range and it just didn’t seem necessary where I only dropshot a few weeks out of the year... the suggested rod was the Majorcraft N-One 6’6” Hard Model... The rod can’t get here fast enough... Randy are you going to be at the East TN Fishing Show (Knoxville) this time?

My nephew is still trying to persuade me to go but I doubt I will make it. Congrats on the rod.....youll be able to detect bites and rip some lips off with that rod.

Bringing an older topic back up for discussion. What are current recommendations for a JDM dropshot rod for panfish. Did a good bit of looking at the Majorcraft site and Digitaka today. I'm thinking maybe a Triple Cross Tublar tip TCX-T682AJI

DIGITAKA! - Japan Fishing Tackle Store

I've seen it recommended as a float rod and also for dock shooting. I do a good bit of float fishing, but haven't done any shooting other than just to see if I could do it without hooking myself. I also haven't done any drop shot fishing but seems to be another method I should give a try.

Let me know your opinions and other rods to give a look at.

    Current rods
    Lunakia 6'10 max 5g
Finetail SUL 6'3" rated at 3.5g
Slowtaper special SUL 6'7" rated up to 10g
    Majorcraft Ajij-do 5G AD5-S502L/AJI only rated to 3g
