You did well, good lines also. Merry Christmas.
Spooled up the Leland with the tiny guides with some Stren Crappie 2lb, and have some fireline crystal 3lb on another reel that I’m going to try on the Browning. Now I just need the most expensive thing in our lives these days, a little time to try em out. Thanks for all the responses.

Finally went yesterday with a friend and we tangled with some shad, great fun. Small ones about 14” and they got bigger and more attitude from there. We caught about 30 fish so we got a pretty good idea of what to expect out of the rods. The Browning has 2.5lb troutist wild and the Leland has some area Meister in 3lb. Had to use a 1/16 to get down in the current, and the longer casts were also a plus. Both the rods performed as good or better than I had hoped. The only line breakage was just before the knot after 8 or 9 fish and I believe that I should have retied. The Leland was in Phil’s hands and got quite aa workout. Loaded up nice and then the drag would sing. The Brownings softer action was by no means a hinderance and took a lot of the punishment before the drag went to work. Overall very pleased with everything, especially the line. East to see the wild and the orange in the meister was easy enough to see even in the low light overcast morning. Hope this helps someone. All money well spent so far.

Good to get your input on the lines. All of the lines I now use are JDM and I dont think Ill be reverting back to any US market lines. While they are a bit more expensive I think the extra cost is worth it.

skeetbum thanked you for this post
Not yet Bob. I have several lines on a want list, and that’s one of them. So is the Ester and Japanese PE line. Only have so many rods. The inner me wants to order em all and work em out, like a new gun with different ammo. The smarter me knows that would be a dumb move and I might not give some of what I try a fair shake. Jeez, I used the Nanofil 2lb for two years before I went looking. And I have to say that as easy as that stuff casts, anything else has a big set of shoes to fill. I’ll holler when I get it done Bob.
