Went out with Perris Blue yesterday and ran into a wall - for big fish. Wind was up - level dropped again - cold front moving in - all the good excuses.. We managed a bunch in the 9" slot with only one making the 10.5" mark. Used a Master Craft Finetail to land the fish - was not easy - this rod is not recommended for this area. We have to much submerged brush and trees and you really have to get control of the fish in a hurry. Had the rod almost bent in a U to get the fish up and out of a brush pile.
Lake level is still falling - drastically - @ dock was 48.8' (full pool) now 35' - lake surface temp is dropping too, ~75*F now.
Anyway, today me and Tu started at the east end with a little bit better results than me and Jeff got. The submerged structure became a "REEL" problem with hooked fish diving into it and breaking off. So we decided to move and stumbled into some very nice fish (follow the birds). Most of the big, purple, males are in the 10" to 11" range - CPR.
