Unexpected catches are always good.
have not hit the lil duck pond in forever and the other day I stopped by to see if i could ketch some .
I struggled to get bit as the pond is really low and it took me a bit to figure out how to get a bite .
So i am getting a few tiny ones here and there and then much to my surprise i hook something that has a bit of pull going on .
Next thing you know i am holding a red ear ? i was like what the heck ? this pond ONLY has bluegill in it . a few bass ,turtles of course and an occasional catifish ?
Then i managed a green sunfish ? And then a hybrid sunfish and so on it went .
i did ketcha few bluegill in the mix as well and only stayed for an hour maybe , but i still walked away going hmmmmm,
probably managed 40 fish or so and some was real small , something to do i suppose .
the things you think you know about a spot might not be what it is for sure .
nothing was very big and it wasn't real easy to ketch them but to be sure it was interesting .
and that is my duck pond trip for this year![]()

Some pretty little fellers, lots of color. I’d say a good trip to the duck pond, and a good report.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Congrats.....wish I had a duck pond somewhere.
