Those are monsters! Always enjoy your pictures!
Got out with perris blue for a few hours this morning. Vultures were circling - bite slowed - but we managed a few good ones. We actually watched Redears spawning on the beds. I don't want to say how deep and where because I want these guys & gals left alone. There were some very big REs - was surprising. Would've been a great time to have an underwater camera. We fished 12 FOW, surface temp was mid 70s.

Awesome! I bet the X rated redear show was pretty cool. I have never visibly seen that. Water is too turbid on the lakes I fish.

Simply excellent pics and post. You finally got around to the jig colors that I’ve had in my head, quietly, for a while now. Chartreuse and white with a black head. Looks like a winner too. Thanks to you and your friend for taking us along.

Thnx for the comments guys - always appreciated
Matt - was educational to say the least. Some males (larger & larger beds) were by themselves - with big female visitors. Smaller beds with the smaller fish were like a party - saw up to 7 mid size fish swirling around one nest. I don't know about moon phase and water temp - these fish were spawning in broad daylight - today. Full moon was the 19th - I think. And - there's good size CNBGs nesting (didn't see them moving around) with them???? Activity was between 7 and 14 FOW - water temp is in the mid 70s.
Sonny I think my dream fishing trip would be fishing with you!! You always share your way of fishing for all to learn from and I have enjoyed your fishing trips for years. Always have impressive catches even on the slow days and love how the fish pose for you Starting to wonder if you have some kind of pixie dust to calm the fish for pictures
Weird year, thought the redear would have finished spawning long ago. From the looks of things they are on the auto pattern now. Very nice fish, I guess the bass eat the little ones since there aren't many around, just big gills.

I just shows that sunfish have somewhat different spawning schedules on different lakes. Very cool observation Sunny!
