That's some nice fish
I took my mom fishing Friday. The pond we fished is one I manage; it produced two bluegill over two pounds last year, one of which was a coppernose caught by a client. (I wasn’t there when the other one was caught and don’t know whether it was a coppernose or a northern, but suspect strongly it was the former based on the landowner’s description.)
The big coppers weren’t playing today, although I did have one fish that acted like a bluegill take a big run of drag and then pull off. We weighed seven bluegill that were over a pound apiece, and another one weighed .95 lb.; we had one other fish that didn’t get weighed but would have gone over a pound. All of the ones that we weighed were northern.

Do you also raise shellcrackers or have plans to do so?
We stock shellcracker all the time. We have a stock of Florida redear, from ones I caught on the St. Johns a couple years ago, in a small pond, but haven't checked lately to see how they're doing. I was fishing the St. Johns to catch coppernose brood stock, and the redear kept jumping on my hook, so I brought the rascals home and put them to work.
Those are great looking fish, a handful on the rod I am sure, and a handful, literally.
