Great report!
Wanted to get an early start - 2 new rods to break in. Got up late, arrived at the bait shop to find out NO crickets!!!! Lucky there was ~25 left over from last week in the basket. Grabbed some red mealworms.
Wind up from the north and wouldn't slow down - almost had to stop. Too many bait snatchers & lifters.
Wind relented a little and started finding some nice fish.
But a ski boat armada shows up and decide they want to beach their boats where I was finding fish. Was so irate - invented a new language. Had to move on.
Found a nice Crappie, then a very nice BG, and some.... Better then the other spot.
Bobby (dock worker) & his best bud Doug show up. Marked a spot for them and watched Doug catch a BIG CNBG. That was the best. The rest was icing.
New Daiwa rods got a descent work out too.

Great report!
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
That, Sir, is one of your better posts. Great to see the little man having a big time, and small children have excellent memories. He will remember the details of today and make you raise an eyebrow in a few years when he recounts this day. Hat's off to you and his Dad both. Good Job. The CNBG's are somewhat darker today and looking good as ever. Thanks for sharing with us. I always look forward to them.

Nice fish. I see the rods were 7.6 ULS Diawa, what model number? Did you like them? Good for casting or just trolling/drifting?

Thnx guys
Stan - Daiwa GEKKABIJIN 76UL-S Ultra Light 7'6" (entry level ~$130, free shipping). I troll with the rods but use them because they cast UL jigs FAR. I cast the jigs out to the side of the boat, letting them sink, before the boat's forward motion lifts & drags the jigs. The tips (I primarily use solid tip opposed to tube) are very sensitive and impart a lot of quivering action to the jigs. They are high carbon content - incredibly light , and have a lot of lifting power. I don't think it would be possible to land half of the fish I catch, right now, with out this style of rod.
Randy - Really enjoyed them. The action is very similar to Master Craft's First Cast rod. Need to make a video - show the abuse they can take. If the Japanese new what I was doing they probably would me on the "tackle ban list" for life....
Glad you like them. I had a Gekkabijin MX Ajing a few years back......a great rod. I gifted that one to a fishing buddy but wish I had it back.....LOL. Yeah the Japanese wouldn’t be happy with me either with my first JDM reel I bought...too much “Rock Rash”.....LOL.
