Default Redbreast sunfish on UL tackle.

Had a great time this past week catching redbreast on UL gear. I was using 1# test NanoFil and having a ball. The next time I get to go I’ll be using a new XUL rod....that rod is going to give me a whole lot of fun. Disco....if you watch this video please forgive the sacrilege I committed with my UL rod.....LOL. I should not have been boat lifting any of those fish with that rod. If I broke it I would cry like a baby. This is what happens when it is hot and I get lazy. Hope you all enjoy the video.

    Regards

Those are some drag squealing panfish for sure! A mixed bag on 1lb test line is awesome. The UL action of the rod must really help from breaking off the larger hard charging fish. I have problems with the whisker fish slicing my Nanofil when they start that rolling action as they head for deeper water. Great Video!

Not a problem. We all get lazy.

I noticed you were using a plain TM (not tipped with bait.) Do you ever tip with bait? For me, tipping is crucial on some days and completely unnecessary on others.

Sorry for the late reply, BTW. I had jury duty yesterday and wasn't able to get online much.

Thanks for watching. That rod takes a lot of pressure off the NanoFil. The new XUL rod will be even better. I have a love hate relationship with that line. I always use a fluorocarbon leader with it and of course that is one more knot to tie that I can’t see...LOL. I could use some 1-1.5# test mono out of Japan but that would get expensive....although I think I have a couple of spools of it laying around.

    Regards

I’m about the same with you on the tipping. Sometimes I find it necessary.......especially when I start fishing deep...say 15 feet deep or more. I find it gives me a little more time to set the hook. I’ve found with getting older the reflex action is not what it used to be. Jury duty.......depending on the case that can be a rough go.

I just asked them if we get to personally execute the criminals, and they said I could go home early.

Thanks for watching. I need to do a video of twitching the Trout Magnet. Looking at the video you will see I always will have the rod twitching.....that is just a constant vibration of the rod tip as I am retrieving. It is not like jigging.....I am wanting to keep the Trout Magnet constantly fluttering as I pull it through the water. If I were to be seriously targeting crappie I would do the same but I would switch out to a slower speed reel to keep it in front of their face as long as possible.

    Regards
