I was thinking about my fly rod this morning when I used a popper with a dippin rod. Looks like a fun day.

That was on my agenda for next week at a friend's private lake. But.....heavy rains and flooding caused us to postpone for a couple of weeks.
By the way, just FYI, a Griffin Gnat is one of the simplest flys to tie and it is a panfish killer.Popping bugs are good too. I usually have 2 rods wth me with popper on one and gnat on other.

My father always kept a fly rod in the boat while bass fishing in the warm months. Many an afternoon he would break that thing out and 10-2 a popping bug around a willow tree or buck bush on Cherokee. Good memories!
