They will bed more than one time, so yes they will be on bed during the May full moon. Hopefully some much more knowledgeable fishermen than me will chime in with more.
Looks like the full moon is the 29th of May. Since this is so late in the year, will the bluegill and shell crackers still be on the bed in Guntersville and Kentucky lakes?

They may bed more than once...but that is not written in stone. I did a writeup on here several years back about that covering 4 different bodies of water spending hundreds of dollars just in gas to find out. The findings were subjective because that is what happened in that year. I did it to find out for myself.....as so many so called experts have written about bluegill will always spawn 2-4 times a year. I found one big spawn in May and in several bodies of water that was the only spawn for that year. But in the bodies of water that had a 2nd spawn it was extremely small. I found no 3rd spawn in any of the bodies of water. Here in TN over the past couple of years some places have had no spawning activity....I’m sure there were some Gills that did spawn but I’m talking about the vast majority of fisherman had trouble finding beds in those years. All fish can be driven off the beds and not spawn in a particular year.....it happens more than folks think. In my opinion your question cannot be answered with a for sure degree of certainty.

Catching tons of males right now finding many beds that they r starting to clear off just today!
We had a couple of good sessions the last weekend of April. This past weekend was really tough. Our 2 best spots yielded 1 8" male along with some pesky gar. We did find a new spot where we were able to grind out enough for a good fish fry.
Haven't seen a female yet at Goose Creek Res or Back River/Bushy Park. Water temp has varied 75-79 over the last week or so.
We find better fish in the staging areas (pre &post spawn fish are feeding). You don't have to wait for full moons and bed fishing.
Our fish can spawn for 5 months - starting in April into August. Last 2 weeks have been targeting 21 to 24 FOW and finding 10" to 12" CNBGs and Red Ears.
quadlee LIKED above post
I catch them year round, but they have been on beds lately.
i think the winter transition to spring occurred late enough this year that the May full moon should be a fantastic period. If the weather looks good, I'm hoping to take a day off and see how it goes.
in farm ponds I think they spawn from when it starts until fall from what I have seen ?
