I normally use the same equipment for crappie, bream and shell crackers which is spooled with either 6 or 4 lb Mr. Crappie Hi-Viz yellow. After fishing with my brother the oher day and him out catching me 10 to nothing before he loaned me a rod, I am starting to consider line color for bream and shell crackers. He had green line on the rod and reel I now refer to as Eagle Eye Annie. What color line do you use for bream and why?

IN IT FOR THE THUMP!
I normally use clear or low vis green just because I always have but I been using hi viz yellow and hi viz green just because that’s what was on the poles and have been catching hundred s with no problem good size fish too ! But I do believe sometimes color sometimes matters but have even caught limits of trout in gen clear water on hi viz line!
4-6 lb hi-viz yellow, so I can see it. 64 year old eyes are not as sharp as they used to be.
Stren or Mr. Crappie 4/6# hi viz yellow,, no problems.
Yo-Zuri hybrid green and izorline XXX smoke both in 2lb.
After testing hi viz ( which I love due to bad eyes, and being a crappie troller ) Trilene Big Game green mono , and fluorocarbon in a clear water state lake that I regularly fish for monster shellcracker.... It took no time to realize that Clear fluorocarbon was catching more fish. I will say I have noticed no difference in catch rate in muddy water. But this particular lake is spring fed and clear by Mississippi standards. I am reluctant to reveal this , cause I know some on this thread are targeting the same fish as I am. I just hope they remember to share a tip with me at some point

Oh . 4 lb test was used during testing. I've been using 4 lb my whole life . May try some 2 lb this year at some point . Been concerned about the 2 lb in windy conditions, also fish over a lot of cover , so breakoffs will be more frequent . I fish live bait exclusively so I don't know if 2 lb will be advantageous. Thoughts ?
