Did you all notice the heavy poles they're using! I would still use my 6-6 light action poles spooled with 6lb line. I would just keep the drag loose...thoughts?

rh - "bread and butter" up there is bass fishing. I asked at the tackle store in Havasu City if they had
a guide that specifically fished for panfish and they told me no but that bass guides would take you out.
The world records up there were caught while people were fishing for bass.
My buddy fishes 6lb and I use 2lb. We don't fish the reeds much - mostly open water structure.
They do have the quagga mussel - can tear up your line. For the most part it is an open reservoir - the
structure that is in it was introduced, You can get a map with all the GPS coordinates showing where
the spots are. You can get away with using heavy line in the crystal clear water because of the low
fishing pressure. I am sure there are fish in this lake that have never seen a lure or a boat...

Mother of Pearl !! That's the only thing I've ever seen worth moving to Arizona for.

The Smallmouth Bass fishing is insane, huge Stirpers, and magambo
    catfish too.
From what I hear - the Crappie are making a come back @Parker Dam....

There is supposed to be a "new" baitfish found, not sure
if it's the American River Shad - supposed to get huge.

We go out there in early spring or late fall only because of the heat & wind.

Why do the red ears get so big in that lake ? Is it the quagga mussel for forage ?

We think it's both the mussel and crawdads. Plus there is an abundance of baitfish.
I CPR (too lazy to clean fish) but my buddy Keith is meat and potatoes and he tells
me the majority of the fish he cleans have crawdads in their stomachs. The crawdads
eat up on the quaggas too.
I remember he 1st time I fished LH with Keith - he was keeping 2lb+ REs and BGS. I
was kind of shocked and he told me if he didn't keep them he wouldn't haven't anything
to eat... It took about a half an hour, of catching beasts to believe him.
Even the BGs eat crawdads - big crawdads! Keith raises his own worms - he prefers the
    really big European crawlers.
They don't fluctuate the lake level much because it generates electricity. Out here in SoCal
it's a problem - lot of times they drop lakes during the spawn. LH is on the California
    Arizona border.

This guy, Keith, has 3 RE mounts over 3lbs an one over 4lbs. I don't know
of anybody that has caught more 2lb+ REs than this man. Awesome
guy to fish with as well.
