Couldn't really fish where I wanted - too many boats around...... No GS today - heard people have been keeping them.

I may have missed this in an earlier post, but would you take a minute and talk about your technique fishing those jigs and your rod and reel setup. I am fairly new the panfish and light equipment fishing world and need all the help I can get. I enjoy your posts and pictures. Thank you sir.

Thnx etex - nothing special, we troll a lot - find fish and cast to them. Learned the technique fishing up and down Baja. Mostly troll - lazy fishing - paying attention to birds and hatches. I use JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) rods made for saltwater Mebaru and Aji fishing. Also we use Pflueger (smoke PT10) or Shimano reels (mostly Stradics) - 1000 size - filled with 2lb izorline XXX or Yo-Zuri Hybrid copolymer line. Jigs are usually 1/48th to 1/24th - depends how deep you want to go, also the depth determines the troll speed. We use crickets to tip jigs - helps casting farther - and slows the sink rate. I would probably use mealworms but have an allergic reaction to them.
Not interested in numbers of fish, more interested in quality fish.

Are you pouring your own jig heads and if so what mold are you using, or where are you purchasing them?
    Appreciate the information. Thanks Pop

hey pop - thnx for the interest. Pour my own jigs - the mold I use the most is Do-It's chub. Have a regular one and one that I had Crazy Angler pin (years ago - they don't do molds anymore) for eye sockets. I tye a regular chub - no spin - with an un trimmed jig and I trim the barb for the belly spin. Also had CA make 2 double molds with different chub heads some ported for chinspins. We use Eagle Claw Lil Nasty jig hooks - I like them way better then Matzuo's sickle hooks. The majority of the fish I catch are stuck in the top of the mouth = hook size and shape. Lot's of people say that aren't sharp enough or don't stick on the fingernail. Found them plenty sharp enough (haven't sharpened one yet) and it took me a while to stop hooking my fingers.....

You did a good job. Going to give them a try with minnow head jigs. Thanks for sharing, Pop

From me too Ledhed, thanks for the info. Hard to find any of that quality here but now and then I get lucky. Gotta be a good one when you take the pic and can no longer see the hand. Nothing but aces!!

Great looking jigs! Do you sell them by any chance?

    Thanks,
