Default A week before Full moon

I've always done well around the May and June full moon to the point where I don't bother making the long drive to my BG lakes unless it is within 4 days of a full moon.

Having missed the May moon and may have other plans on the June moon, I'm wondering if they'll be any bedding gills this coming weekend. I'm sure I could find a few regardless of bedding activity, but I'd like to know I could find a steady bite if I'm going to bring the kids along.

    Thoughts?

Can only speak for out here - we fish outside the beds, anywhere from 9 to 22 FOW - almost all the time. When the water is warm enough for weeds - we fish the outside. You probably won't catch as many fish but you will catch a better quality fish. I have seen a lot of big Redear bedding but not a lot of big Bluegill - up to 10". I think the bigger fish spawn deeper and the beds are spread out more.
Lot of BG activity, @ LP, is triggered by bug hatches. I watch the birds - they can tell you a lot about what's going on in the water - and where.

The BG and Redears spawn on full moon AND dark moons in May, June and July.

By a dark moon you mean a new moon?

I had read that new moon was good too, but its definitely not talked about as much. Hopefully right between the new and full will be good too since that's when I have time to go!!!

I'm going to try out deeper this time. I'm also gonna try dragging a crawler or beetle spin when paddling between spots.

We're catching them in 4.5 fow on santee and when the sun starts baking we get them in the hydrilla beds! Full moon is always a good time for them, if nothing else it promotes confidence in the fisherman. Name: image.jpg

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

I found the half moon to be about half as good as the full moon. Could only see 1 lone bed while patroling the shallows. Found some in some pads, but no concentrations like I find on the full moon.
