A 1/32 oz roadrunner head and tube or grub body pulled slow through a bluegill or redear bed will have your rod bent all the time. It's deadly on crappie too...The slow fall and smaller blade profile will work better than a 1/16 oz or heavier sometimes. I have had some problems with some of the Roadrunner brand 1/32 oz in recent years getting the blade to spin good on the fall or slow retrieve. Some batche are fine and then some I got to fiddle with, need that blade to spin good to work best.

Nice catch. I catch tons of them a year on a Trout Magnet. Many people tell me also they will not hit artificial.

roadrunners are excellent but personally i like to just dip a small jig into BG beds, they attack dang near anything and you can put it right on their noses with a long rod.

I use jigs,or honey worms for nesting gills, but gonna give under spins and micro cranks a try.

I like pitching RR's and Beetle Spins when I find em gathered up. I used to throw an Evans Shyster close to 40 years ago that they would hammer if the color was right. Now that I have the new light rig I'll be doing more of this stuff. What color was the body on the RR you were using? Looks like a root beer of motor oil maybe?
