Apprentice, if you get a chance, handle a BnM. Rod called “The Difference”. Designed for side pulling by a man named Roger Giant, it also has a soft tip. I think you could feel them look at it. I didn’t think it was built for casting as the softer section of the tip is longer than most, but my tastes run a little different than most.

God Bless You
I’m happier with my Sam than I was with my difference. I have a 10’ rear seat Sam and like and use it a lot. The only way to choose one that suits you is to handle a lot of them.

Got 2 new rods for Christmas. A St. Croix Panfish Series 6'9" and a 6'8" Lew Speed Stick. Both are Ultralight Fast and have basically the same specs. The Lews is noticeably heavier. I haven't had a chance to use them yet. I heard alot about the St Croix.
Anyone used the Lews? Seems like a decent rod, but as I said haven't been able to try them out yet.
The St Croix 6' Panfish is my favorite rod since 1960.
I just picked up my first SC panfish series a few months ago and like it quite a bit. Got the 7' light XF and put my old 1000MgFB Stradic on there. At first I was nervous about how delicate it looked. The last foot or so is about the diameter of a dry spaghetti noodle but it's proven to be right tough. I've accidentally jabbed it against my ceiling more than once, and it handled an 18" bass like it knew what it was doing. Definitely a fan of the panfish series, I'll have to give the UL a try

I have the St Croix panfish 7 foot UL and it works great. I also have the Falcon 7 foot UL and it's just as good if not better. Price point is certainly better.

I have been really happy with my TCB by Leland. Falcon makes an ultralight in the BuCoo series that I've been looking at
