    Warmouth is what I call them, too. And I've eaten several in my time ... really can't tell them from Bluegill, except the fillets are usually a little thicker.

    I would sure like to catch anything! Will be waiting for a bit warmer weather, my wife and I don't handle the cold so well anymore.
    Indiana, like so much of the country, is powerfully cold, makes us long for the warmer days and our annual May trip to Kentucky lake.

    i catch those in southern illinois,different than the warmouth i catch up here.the rock bass up here are much different in color and have a bigger mouth.i think there are 100s of sub species and hybrids of the sunfishes.love seeing the regional differences.
