    Default Bream Rod and Reel

Bought a Quantum Optic 30 and put it on a Tournament 6 foot rod medium action rigged with a slip cork got less than $40 in both. This is going to be my river set up for bream got 8 lb test mono line. Been practicing the cast with the slip cork rig it does a very good job and easy to drop the bait where I want it. Makes long distant cast with easy. Now I just got to get my butt back on the river.

Nice setup, never been good at finding bream in the rivers. Gotta try harder I guess.

I love river bream. They are more aggressive than their still water cousins. I have a very similar set up. I use a Pflueger 30 and a 6' shimano clarus medium light rod spooled with 6# line. Light enuff for the gills, crackers and REDBREASTS but strong enuff for a good smallmouth too. Love those redbreasts, easily the most beautiful fish around here. Not a monster but a very pretty specimen.

That is one of the things that I enjoy so much about pan fish, the colors on them. And they seem to vary a lot also. I catch the redbreast, I catch some with light blue on them and some with orange. They are the most beautiful fish to catch.
I fish rivers a lot in South Louisiana and catch mostly in the cypress trees among the root systems. Sometimes they hang around the grass lines, but mostly they relate to wood.

That's the way they are here too. I fish a reservior that only fluctuates about 18"-24" and is full of grass. I catch gills and crackers on the grass but the breasts are always on wood. I love em all...
