    Default Dale Hollow Gils...Smallies....black perch.

Had a great day at Dale Hollow today. Lures used were Midnight Blue ThunderHawk Dancer on a 1/16 ounce Micro Dancer jig head and a Bison colored Trout Magnet on a 3/32 ounce jig head....line was SOS 2# test mono. Rods used were Major Craft Truzer Ajing "H" 6' 5" UL and a Yamaga Blanks Blue Current TZ Jig Head Special 6' 10" UL. Reels were a Shimano TwinPower C2000 HGS and a Daiwa Certate 2004CH. Had about 10 Smallies...best was 21 inches....had one at 20 inches and others 16-18 inches. Found the Gills today. Had two dozen of some really chunky fish. They fought just as hard as the Smallies...pulling drag. The girth and shoulders on these Gills are amazing. Got into a bunch of black perch at about the 7-8 inch mark...had around 50 of those....was on a spot they were stacked in. Was hard to leave today but had to get back down the road. I am having the best spring time fishing of my life. Going to hit it again next week. Life is Good!!

What is a Black Perch? We got white ones and yellow ones, never heard of a Black one. Any pictures of one?

The pic of the fish where you see the orange and green markers by my thumb is one...many call them rock bass.

Same as a Warmouth, maybe? If so they are fun to catch and eat. My wife and I ran a COE campground on Cordell Hull Lake for a couple of years. Always wanted to fish Dale Hollow but never got the chance. It is a beautiful lake.

wow...I mean wow... You do realize this borders on like really impressive and informative...and pure torture for those of us who are envious. I have to read slow through your equipment list... talk about some specialized equipment. I would love to try some lighter line but most places I fish you have to keep runs short or the fish will have you wrapped around something or buried in thick grass and moss. I am going to start experimenting some though when I can. I do have trouble seeing and handling 6lb though...I would need some strong readers and something to steady my nerves to deal with anything much smaller I think.

Red eye...black perch.....rock bass......depending on where one is located as to what they call them. Heck here in TN the name changes from county to county....LOL. But the official name is rock bass.
