Jigs are always a great bait. I recently got turned on to a small Rooster Tail in Firetiger pattern. Use the smallest you can throw reasonably well and fish it along docks, cover and sandy bottoms. They will slam the heck out of the thing. I guess the flash from the spinning blade makes them hit it so hard. You will get fooled sometime when you reel in a fish that is half the size you thought it was when it hit.

if you have never flyrod fished for panfish you need to do that at least once in your life. Especially with little poppers.

you can take a small natural color cork and put a trout fly about a ft under it and tip that fly with a power bait or small live bait like a mealworm or tiny piece of red wiggler or any one of a dozen things. Cast it with a light action spin rod or dip it with a long pole. A natural cork float does not spook them and you just buy a cheap trout fly assortment and find one they bite the fastest. don't even need to tip it somedays. You can experiment with dry and wet flys. Its fun to see them float and hit it on the surface. Other days they want it to sink a little.

when they go deeper a cricket or redworm fished on a small hook with a spitshot on the bottom will catch them about as good as anything.

Lots of good Gill lures. I use Trout Magnets and catch all I want....to me smaller is better.

Beetle spinners work well or just buy the spin jig and put whatever head and grub you want on it
