Too many Bass
So do you guys ever run into this problem. I was fishing over lunch at a little lake by my office (maybe 40 acres), anyway there's a spot with a tree lying in about 10 ft of water. I've caught gills there before and saw more than a few swimming around the shallows. I caught 7 fish over my 45 minutes of fishing, but most of them were little bass and one small carp. I only got 1 gill that was maybe 6" if I stretched him a little.
Is that just a sign I needed a different spot? I guess the gills that were there just didn't want to bite today. (not that I'm complaining about 7 fish over lunch). If a spot is overrun with bass do the gills generally leave?

I have no idea....I'm just jealous that you have enough time to go fishing at lunch! LOL

I ran into that same problem today...but I guess it is not a bad problem to have. But I fish 2# test line and was catching more than my share of nice Gills but had to deal with too many 14-15 inch large mouth. I am fishing in milfoil so it is good cover for both specie. We just have to deal with it.

Benefit of the lake being 3 minutes from my office.
I would have been happier if the bass were 13-15" but the biggest topped out around 8" or so. I was using crawler chunks on a #8 hook 14" under a float. Oh well, at least I was catching some.
