Nice looking fish... It won't be fair to the fish once your boat is ready... Lol How does that rod compare to your fenwick river runner? (if you still have it)
I got out a little earlier today than usual. I started fishing at 8:45 a.m. When I left at twelve noon I had caught a ton Gills. What a great day. Same routine as usual...Bison colored Trout Magnet...SOS 2# test line....Tict Ice Cube Rockin' Drift UL Rod 6' 9". As long as I kept my rocking cadence going with the TM I was catching....get lazy and just twitch it randomly...no fish. Shell cracker were noticeably absent today....have no clue where they were. Fish were colored up nice. My good buddy James wanted me to go to Pickwick to look for white bass in the boat but by noon I had my fish fix for the day....and enough of the heat too. So will try for whites next week. A fun......drag pulling day! Life is good!

Beauties - perfect taco size
Thanks for the comments guys. I'm hoping to get into schooling white bass next week but if not will go back to my bluegill lake.....I never tire of catching them.

My sons now have my River Runner and Loomis rods. I purchased a total of 8 rods out of Japan. Two of them were low end rods...but worth the money. I gave those to my sons as Christmas gifts. They were bass UL rods. The Japanese build rods according to the specie you are fishing for. Now they don't have crappie or bluegill over there but they do make rods for catching horse mackerel...which is a tiny salt water fish. They are perfect...IMHO for crappie...Gills...and other specie. The reason I ordered so many I wanted to be able to see the difference in low...medium...and high end JDM rods compared to what we buy here at home. The actions on JDM rods are faster than what US domestic rods are....even if it is rated as slow it will still be faster than what US companies rate as slow. I have 5 high end rods and the Tict that I used to catch the Gills is also used for crappie....trout. IMHO you can't compare any of the high end JDM UL rods to anything we can buy here. I have a Yamaga blanks rod that is only 2 ounces in weight with a tubular tip....great for throwing UL cranks. My other rods are all solid tipped rods. Solid tips are made for micro plastics. The rod you asked about has a solid upper section....not just the tip but whole top section is solid graphite. The rod is far more sensitive than any rod I have ever used. As someone over at the tackletour forum said "Unless someone has fished JDM gear no need to try to explain it as they won't get it". I am sure what he meant by that is the cost of the high...and even the medium end rods. Most are not going to pay the price of those rods. I still have my Phenix Elixir...although I don't fish it anymore. If you ever go JDM...IMHO....you won't go back. As I said before I am not trying to push these rods on anyone. I just love fishing with them. I am an avid UL angler and am addicted to fishing as much....or more than any hard core bass guy.
Regards
Great pics, you were on them.
Nice gills.....
Very nice catch. I'm heading out to the river tomorrow morning (hopefully) to try a few spots that look promising for gills. Got my light action rods all rigged up. Hopefully I have as much luck as you did.
