    Thnx
Lake Perris is in SoCal, ~60 miles east of Los Angeles and ~90 miles north east of San Diego. We are the flatlanders - got mountains all around us.

I am amazed by the size and number of blue gills (bream in NC) you are catching) can you share more about your technique, I want to try it in NC. Do you cast and retrieve, count it down then retrieve, drag the bottom, drop shot, long line, drift, troll? Is the 2 lb test a big part of your success? I have always used 4 lb and have a bunch of 4lb trilene xl on hand. Line is relatively cheap, I can easily switch to 2 lb. What is your definition of deep water? Are the fish you are catching suspended or on the bottom. Are they on brush piles or other structure? Any advice you are willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I get to fish maybe 2 - 3 hours in the morning, from a boat, 3 days a week. Our lakes are reservoirs - not a lot of structure and small. We like to troll into a location then cast & countdown with jigs. 2lb test is huge, besides it's more sporting, tests the angler.... We fish over 60 and 70 FOW in the winter. Right now - 30 to 35 FOW is deep. I prefer to fish in the transitional area - don't like to fish beds. Bigger & better fish in the 17" area. Wherever the bugs are hatching is where I want to fish. Custom tyed jigs are critical.

Thanks for the good info and for all your excellent posts. You have got this old crappie fisherman excited about the possibilities of bream fishing again.

Slabinator - you want to get the heart racing - check out what comes out of Lake Havasu!!!

NC has Richmond Mill pond run by the Kingfisher's Society. I wouldn't pay the price (they ask) but they do have some very big BGs there. If I did have to "pay to play" - it would be with Walt in TN.
