    I don't see that color often in this area. Usually when I find that color phase it is on spawning males.

    Think it's a characteristic of Coppernose BG.

    "Usually when I find that color phase it is on spawning males." X 2

    I just posted a bunch of Lake Perris BGs pictures where you can see the black tipped scales.
