    Default Another great day.

Got into a lot of Gills and very few shell crackers. Did get a nice shell cracker at VFW....not the biggest I have caught but it sure was colored up pretty. All fish caught twitching a Bison colored Trout Magnet on 2# test SOS line. Only fished for about 3 hours....heat got to me and had to leave. A large mouth that I guesstimated to be over 10 pounds wanted an 8.5 inch Gill I was fighting in. It was one heck of a commotion...LOL. The darn thing almost came out onto the bank. I didn't keep count....caught the fish at will off of a bed I found beating the bank. I had a great time battling these Gills today...life is good!

Thanks...if you mean by working for them do I get paid?.....or free product?...the answer is no. I am on Trout Magnet Pro Staff. That and five bucks will get a cup of coffee at Starbucks....LOL. All of the pro staff at Trout Magnet support the product because we believe in it. We do get a small discount on TM products. I switched over to being an UL angler over 8 years ago. I tried Trout Magnets and have been hooked ever since. I have tried...and still try out micro jigs and UL cranks all the time. I have bought more brands of 2# test line than most have ever heard of. Currently trying out some Japanese line fishing for trout. But Trout Magnet is my go to bait for Gills. There are many great bluegill lures...TM just happens to be the one I like and produces for me.

You just might be pleasantly surprised if you try those "Gulp Alive" 1" baits? No plastic, super scent, it's the best bait available these days? You just might get involved with Berkley?

I will say that I used the 1" gulp a ton last year with good success... I can't speak for alpha but I've been doing better on bg with trout magnets and better on crappie with the itty bit bobby garland... The fish around here seem to take spells it's odd... But I can't buy a bite on gulp right now

Appreciate the recommendation. I have tried the Gulp products and to me it can be quite messy. I have friends who use it with great success. I don't know how much better my fishing can get. So I don't know how much more surprised I could get. I catch a lot of fish. The big reason for that is using very light line...1-2 pound test line...and light lures...Trout Magnet only weighs in at 1/64 ounce. I am not trying to push TM on anyone. It works for me and works very well. I am just posting a report. Most that post reports tell what bait they are using. If you...or anyone, are having great success with a bait I wouldn't even ask you to switch lures or bait. I use all JDM UL fishing rods yet they are not for everyone...very expensive. To me they are worth every penny I paid but I don't expect people to rush out and buy JDM rods. All I can do is tell how they perform....cost....weight.....and so on. It is up to each of us to decide what we fish with. Forums are for giving information. I have received a lot of info off here on different lines that I wanted to try and even found out about lines I had never heard of. One thing I will say is no matter the lure you are using for panfish if one is using 4-6 pound test line you will find you get more fish with the lighter line....but there again it is not for everyone. I wish you continued success in your fishing.

    Very much agree.

When you consider that most lines "over test" (that is, they are stronger than what the package says), there's no need to ever go over 4# for bluegill. (I recently got a carp of about 15# on 4# line.)

FWIW, I'm currently using 3# Maxima.

    Anyway, that's my
