    Default Great Perch Day 4/12/15

Got on the lake this morning expecting more crappie action than we actually experienced. The day started really slow....couldn't buy a bite.

After a couple hours of nothing we switched it up a little and headed to some other past productive holes. We expected crappie in brush.....found one black crappie.....and a lot of yellow perch. All were relatively nice perch.....few were almost 12".

A nice sized fish of some type came out of nowhere to try and steal a 8-9" perch off the hook at one point. Big bass? Pickerel? Who knows.

Night crawlers provided little help today....minnows were the ticket.

Hey Wademaster,Were the perch in tree laps or in deeper brush-piles?
I had been doing fairly well (for me anyways) in the laps while they were spawning, but after the spawn ended, they disappeared.

We found these adjacent to a brush pile at a rock wall. Nothing over 5-6 feet of water. Also caught one in a few feet of water at the dam above some rip rap.

Thanks! Sounds like they're bunched back up after spreading out to spawn. Its harder to find em when they do that. I always thought they went deeper, but it doesn't look like that's the case.
I'd trade 10lbs of crappie fillets for 1 lb of yellow perch fillets any day
