Never tried the spoons. But sounds like a great way to wind down from the day
Went fishing this afternoon at a small lake by my office. Just fishedfrom one of two fishing piers they had. Not a great day but I did get the "no fish" monkey off my back. Caught 5 gills, one was about 8" or so andnwas maybe worth keeping but I tossed him back. The rest were in the 5-6" range. I also got one dink largemouth bass. All were caught on a simple hook/split shot/bobber setup mostly just off the pier with a worm.
On my other rod I was casting a small spoon out with a plastic trailer (in fisherman just did a show on it). There is a slight dropoff from the pier to about 15ft and supposedly there is a fish crib out there. Not sure if i was casting out far enough or not (i really need an ultralight rod). I think I got at least one hit on it but couldnt get a hookset. Has anyone used a spoon like this from shore? Is it worth continuing to try this approach from a dock?
