Default What's y'alls favorite setup for Shellcrackers?

Just curious what y'alls favorite setup is for catching Shellcrackers? Most of the ponds I fish are fairly shallow so I like to use a slip float rig set to where the bait just bumps the bottom, it works pretty well for Shellcrackers and I pick up a few catfish as well. As for bait I like to use good ol' Red Wriglers. I'm always up for learning new techniques so any that y'all are willing to share would be greatly appreciated .

Ultra -lite with 6 lb. stren and a Carolina rig with worms/crickets . The one most used is a 1/32 spinner with a one inch "slider" paddle tail grub .Folks tell me they want hit artificial bait .Name: Video 47 0 00 00-01.jpg

Slow swimming a 1/64th or 1/32nd ounce beetle or 1" curly tail along the bottom. I don't target shellcrackers, but tend to catch quite a few when crawling jigs.

    From the bank:
A ... slip float/sinker/#4 hook with chunk of nightcrawler fished close to bottom (calm winds)
B ... 1/8oz slip sinker/#4 hook with chunk of nightcrawler fish on bottom (windy conditions)

    From the boat:
... black jighead with chunk of nightcrawler slow drifted over deep water, just off the bottom

One of these under slip cork set to depth that keeps the bait a couple inches off the bottom. I like to dip these in and around lily pads too. Tip with a cricket, wax worm, or piece of red wiggler too. Have put an old silver or gold spinner off a beetle spin on these too when the fish are scattered and willing to chase a bait.

#1: For monster bluegills, an aberdeen hook size 4 with a flat head minnow with a splitshot four inches above that and a float eight inches above the split shot.
#2: For consistent action, an aberdeen hook size 8 with a red worm with a splitshot four inches above that and a float eight inches above the split shot.

I have also got some dandy gill on minnows. ESP around the spawn.
