Lake Havasu does it again, it looks like the redear sunfish world record was broken again there yesterday with a 5.8 pounder.
The previous record was set on May 2nd, 2011 and weighed 5.55 pounds, also at Havasu.
Again, the quaggas are good for something. Feeding giant redears.
More big Havasu redears that show the evolution in size;
4 pound 13 ouncer caught in June of 2012
The 5.55 pounder caught in May of 2011 that has stood as the world record for the last few year
And then here is a pic of a redear Mike Phua caught while practicing for an FLW Bass tournament last March at Havasu. He said it weighed 5.7-5.9 pounds on the handheld scale in the boat. But I don't think they ever got it on the right scale for consideration for any records at the time.
Havasu is the redear capital of the world right now. We might see a 6 pounder this spring.

Wow that fish is huge.

Monster! I was fishing in Yuma and a guy came up to us on the canal where we were fishing and said you want to see a big bluegill were like sure. I figured he had a nice one but then he pulled out a dinner plate gill. Biggest bluegill I ever seen. I love Arizona hands down the best place I ever fished.
