Whats the difference in a Mayan and a Oscar? They look the same to me. We would catch a few on Okeechobee bluegill fishing. I guess the Everglades around holiday park is loaded with them. To me they eat just as good as a bluegill or cracker
The top one is the Mayan Cichlid and the Oscar is on the bottom. The Mayans are a distinct reddish color with black vertical bars and the Oscar has a red spot on his tail. Made my first trip to the glades this year and it was a blast.
By the way, that is a Cherrywood rod in the 2nd picture. Had it at least 20 years. Got a Pfleuger President ultra light reel on it.
