15 of these nice 'gills gave up when I showed up at the pond today. Tossed back a number of dinkies as well. I used 2 baits for the most part; a 2" BG baby shad in threadfin shad color and a 2" crappie stinger green/blue with a white tail. The BG landed the majority.

I was surprised at what small fish attacked that BG. The small fish of the day was a bluegill of perhaps 4" long and he took that plastic shad in completely; I had to dig it out with the forceps.

Most came from deep water, 22+ feet. I had to work them, they were not hitting aggressively. Had to have my patience hat on but it all worked out.

All processed and tucked away in the freezer for a cold winter night's fish fry.

I think I'm going to laugh at myself and make this fact my signature line.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

NICE mess of bluegills. i was in the same boat with you about crappie, until 10 13 2013 caught my first ever crappie. and since then been wearing them out. the magic colors for me were chartreuse and dark green on a pony jig head reeled in real slow. also a black and chartreuse 2" grub gets crappie in the yak every time now. got to go to bass pors for some more grubs

Nothing wrong with that mess of fish there. I'll take those anytime and run to get the hot sauce. I like what freshrman said in his siggy "The two best times to fish (when it's raining & when it aint). "
