Default Is this a hybrid Crappie Bluegill?

Forget about the pretty girl in this picture, we know she's pretty. But I do love the hat!

Anyway, I'm talking about the fish. Personally I do think it's a brim, but why does it look so much like a Crappie. Is it a hybrid? Maybe this was talked about, but I did do a search on my own site and did not see anything! lol

Kitt posted this, maybe he knows?

It's got 9 dorsal fin spines, not reminiscent of a crappie. Black Crappie have 7 or 8 and White Crappie have 5 or 6.

Here's another picture. It can't be a Crappie, it's got a heavier and smaller mouth. Not a papermouth.

    Shellcracker !! (aka Redear Sunfish)

According to my research .... it would have 9-11 dorsal spines & 10-12 rays --- chest coloration can be white to yellow --- anal fin has 3 spines --- pectoral fin is long & pointed --- gill flap is rimmed in bright red to a dull orange.

Redear sunfish, in my experience they do look extremely like a crappie in the markings.
