    Default Reelfoot line choice

I been going to the foot for years bluegill fishing but always changed my hi vis line to clear before going. Has anyone used hi vis at Reelfoot for bluegill fishing and found any difference in the bite?

Can't speak for Reelfoot but there is zero doubt that hi-viz line on Ky Lake is going to cut your catch of bluegill and redear. Quackrstackr and I got on a bed of gills last year and I was not getting any hits and he was filling the boat. Only difference? He had clear line and I had Mr Crappie hi-viz. Same bait, same line size, same technique. I went to clear line on all my ultra-lites for gills and redears.

I fish Reelfoot jigging trees and lilies for gills with 30# hi vis braid with a 18 inch 6# fluorocarbon leader. Great sensitivity and virtually invisible to the fish.

A clear leader would be an easy fix if the Hi-Viz is a problem.

I just got back from Kentucky Lake and we caught some hoss sized redear and a ton of nice gills on Hi Vis 6# and 8# with no leader. Biggest slowdown we had was last Saturday and Sunday we nearly froze LOL! Bite was slow those days but I spoke to a bunch of folks with the same results. I had some rods rigged with clear and didn't see any difference between. Last time I was on Reelfoot 2 years back(granted) all I had to do was throw a small jig on the cypress trunk and let er fall in the water. No difference in line I could tell. My wife needs the Hi vis to see what is happening. FYI we got posted on Big Bear's Facebook page with one morning's bigger redear. We didn't expect to be photo'd LOL

It will make no difference on Reelfoot. I use Berkley XT Solar and have no problem catching bream on Reelfoot. It sure doesn't bother the crappie or the catfish either!!

Hope you fill your cooler up!

I just got back from Barkley and was using high vis yellow colored braid and it didn't bother the crackers at all. I was thinking about switching all of my reels over to the braid because those big crackers abused the four lb mono. Barkley was pretty stained up though so maybe that's why I didn't have a problem. I wonder if braid comes in different colors other than moss green and yellow?

when we went down in 05 we just buried the boat in the middle of a lilly pad patch and fished the open holes with 2 wax worms or 3 on a hook with a float and get ready you will get gills and nice cats, you will have to break off sometimes when hung I would use 12# line no less then 10 and old floats you wont mind losing, just my 2 cents.
