Cachuma, if you go to the Grubco link on top, they will explain how to keep them healthy and alive longer. I get mine from them.

    -fish them....

and the most important thing i was wondering is..how do you keep all of them from jumping away from you when you grab one.....

We ran a bait shop in our garage when I was a teenager. A pile of corn meal and a jar top filled with water is probably best for them. The key is keeping them warm enough to thrive but out of the direct sun....around 85 degrees is good temp for them if I recall correctly although this was about 40 years ago. I sometimes use a few leaves of lettuce that works well (food and water) but makes a mess in the bottom of your cricket bucket. Also, you may want to put some plastic wrap held by rubber band over the top of the cricket bucket to keep them from climbing out. Fattening them up and keeping them healthy between fishing trips is highly recommended. The bream will appreciate it and your cooler will be fuller.

Use 1/16th plywood and build a small rectangular house approximately 8"X8" with an exit hole to keep them in. Fed them tacos to keep them alive....works up to 1 week. Hook them through the RIGHT hind leg. Good luck and good fishing!!

sometimes the brim grab the kickers and rip the cricket off the hook so i pinch them off when i put em on the hook. a little pressure on the thighs and they will pop right off. it seems to cut down on the bait stealing

Sandman. Tacos cause too much excrement try burritos. And all of our crickets are left footed so must be hooked there or will kick gill in nose.

    Thumbs up

yeah crickets the way to go especially when they hit the bed in early spring! I believe you can smell them 100 of yards away. I have tried earthworms but it seems like the bigger ones are on crickets, and always have a ultralight with a beetlespin on. I hook mine through the belly part (I guess) and back up through the back ( the harder part) where it looks like he's sittinig on the hook., they don't live that long but where I fish it don't take but a few seconds after they hit the water. I sorta hook them and make em look weedless LOL they also make topwater baits that work well too.

I love fishing with crickets. They really produce! Mess around alittle and see what works best for you. But i personally hook them in the thorax and drop them in the water and let them just squarm around. It calls fish from the other side of the lake!
    Peace be the fishing!:)

i usualy hook them through the gut and up into the head they don't seem to come of as bad this way i love crickets i fish with them alot but the fish in my opinion are a little bit harder to catch because they suck your bait of quicker just my 2 cents
