I don't see a lot of canepoles longer than about 12'. Most are 10'. I prefer telescopic fiberglass and graphite poles. It's very easy to find different lengths, and they're easy to transport.
I want to go back to old cane poles. How many do you guys use, and how long ar they? Aer they all the same length or what?

I use telescopic cane poles a lot when the gills and crappie are nesting. I like to use a 13' rod, anything more is a chore to work with, and anything shorter puts me to close to the fish. I only use one at a time dipping micro jigs, or a float and bait. I hardly ever see anybody use them anymore, but they are a blast to fish with. I always get looks and questions when I use them. I don't really know if one is better than the other but I like the B n M rods.
I found a few telescoping cane poles in my dad's garage after he died. Most were broken, but there was one 15 footer, and older Mr. Crappie brand I think. I like the simplicity of it. I went out yesterday after work and three fairly decent gills from the bank. I've been building a new boat, and want to try spider rigging.
Can you spider rig with these telescoping poles? The cost effectiveness of these poles is unreal, no moving parts, not much line to deal with, low cost of acquisition.
We got 2 Black Widow's yesterday. I got my wife a 10footer & myself a 13 footer. We fished with them last night and got a bunch of bluegills. They came with line, hook, bobber, sinker, really nice. $6.96 & $8.96 fun to use..

Very good article on pole fishing:
More Bluegills
Anybody ever try Crappie fishing with these poles and an underwater light? I bet that would be fun...
