If your getting hits but missing fish....go to bigger hooks. I use 1/8 oz. jigs with 1/0 sickle hooks....this larger hook has improved my catch rate and every fish is hooked solid in the roof of the mouth If I don't tip with a minnow....I have a crappie nibble on.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Never leave home without em. I do like to "temper" them in the sun to toughen them up a bit. I use the white on cloudy days and neon chartreuse on sunny days.

Nibbles can make or break a day on occasion. Used them on ice jigs, tubes etc. Noticed one day on a clear lake, I could see the crappie run right up to the jig and then stop. Tried tipping with a wax worm and started catching again. Other days, do not get bit without them. Laying them in the sun for awhile definitely helps them staying on. I usually use smaller (1/64th) jigs with the glow chart. color.

Possibly good advice for crappie, but bluegill (the forum we're in), not so much. Going to a 1/0 hook is a surefire way to miss 99.9% of all bluegill that bite one's jig - the way to go when missing fish is a smaller hook, #8 or #10.

Agree with tnpond on the smaller hooks for gills. Seems like you don't have as many misses with the smaller hook and nibble.

But seems like it would have to get the hook too?? Opinions are appreciated!! Not sure if the gills or the crappie were hitting it. It was almost dark. Thanks a lot. I was using them to tip a trout magnet.
They are always in my boat. Especially Chartreuse ones.

Bugman at SimplyCrappie.com has designed a great skirt for using the nibbles..calls it the Pick Pocket.
