I used the old Johnson Century for years and caught lots of crappie and gills. I've heard good things about the Omega. I'm sure it would work fine. It's whatever you're comfortable with.
A buddy of mine has been trying to talk me into getting one for 2-3 years. He uses one on an 8' B&M rod for redears and gills. It's been decades since I used a spincaster and was wondering how they have performed for you and what issues you might have had. Wife bought me one this past weekend.

The z02 is a great reel. Had the wifes out this morning casting it after relining and it's just as smooth as ever and cast a split shot and hook a mile. I bought her the z02 that will handle 6lb test several years ago. She has caught gobs of fish of all sizes, both fresh and saltwater, and it's still going strong. I bought myself the larger z02 and ended up gifting it to the father-in-law. The downside of the reel is the drag. We have had some trouble with the adjustment for that. Other than that it's all been ok except when I spooled some flourocarbon on it. The z02 would not work at all with the brand flourocarbon I had bought. For the wife I have it matched with a ladies ugly stick.
Good luck with the new equipment and hope you catch lots of fish on it.
Here is the z02 and ugly stick in action a couple weeks ago throwing rooster tails at top water feeding bass. Sorry no good reel pic
