Definitely a pretty lake. I catch quite a few bass there after they spawn. Also have caught some good bream, but when it starts to get hot watch out. It also has some of the biggest wasp nest you have ever seen. I know of one there that has to be over 18 inches across. Luckily it it is about 30 ft up a tree. There are many more close to the water. I can't fish this time of year for watching for the wasps.

    Hi Rick,

Another person told me the same thing about the wasp this week. I haven't encountered any but I will be on the lookout for them.

I haven't been on Cheniere Lake for about 15 years i thought it was the dead sea the last time I was one it. I used to catch lots of bluegill on it but they seemed to be fished out. Glad to hear it has come back i will have to go try it. How is the water level in this drought? Can you launch a boat fairly easy? Let me know might try it week after next.

    Hi bflowers,

I haven't fished it in a couple of weeks, the last time I went it was pretty slow. I caught a dozen bluegill but they were on the small side. The water level is still pretty good, I paddle a jon boat so I don't need much water. The ramps I've looked at still have water on then, I think the two at the spillway area lead to deeper water. Area 1 also looks good.

Now that is why I moved down south. You can't beat a cypress lake not even with a really big stick. Looks a lot like my home lake. There should be some bream in some of those cypress tree roots. That is where I am catch some most all the time.

Looks like another reason to move to Louisiana after retirement next spring.
