If the water temp is low 70's keep looking. Hit them the next full moon and the females should be on bed. Right now your probably picking up males, because they will come in first. I'm not a pro, but I'm pretty sure the males are coming in to make the beds and then the females will move up from their staging areas on the next full moon. I usually begin fishing the spawn in NC around April, because our water temps are getting right then. I experience the shellcrackers bedding first and then the larger bream (bluegill) after April I continue fishing off and on throughout the months, but I always hit it around the full moons. They will spawn throughout the warm months and in some cases I've caught them spawning in deep water a month after I caught them in shallow water spawning. Just keep fishing, I think your a little early and that's good. Better early than late. happy fish'n... bumpers...
