    Default Catfish

I use somewhat the same type method fot eater cats except I flip the fillet with rib cage attached and fillet from the attached tail. The thing I find best is not to push the knife but instead pull the fish and skin toward you. I'm not good at it and still leave a patch of skin sometimes . I'll have the wife or son film the process next time I get one.
Better yet to film someone that is really good at it. I've seen real handy electric catskinners.
I've only seen eater cats done this way never the bigguns. These short clips I posted were done with my digital still camera. Check out yours. Some do a bang up job. Illinoisgiller

I like a regular fillet knife best for lots of reasons but mainly the feel and quality of the results. I have tried both though. Although I don't normally get in a hurry cuz I enjoy cleaning fish, I think I'm fast enough. The first video was good, never seen one done that way but will have to try it. I really wasn't impressed with his speed though. 22 seconds on the other hand is fast! I've always just cut thru the ribs while filleting then remove the skin then slide the blade under the ribs following the contour of the rib cage. Never timed it......got me wondering. Gonna have to go catch some.

    Default Requested catfish video

There was a request by the original poster for an electric knife cleaning catfish video. There are a few but this fella seems to know what he is doing. My Rapalla isn't strong enough for the larger boned fish.

Here is another one that I got to from your link. The first part is bad camera work but it gets better.

    I like them both.
