someone recommended using a cabin creek popeye feather jig the other day for bluegill. i don't typically fish with jigs, so I was hoping you all could give me a few hints concerning styles, colors, techniques, locations, etc. I enjoy pond fishing and occasionally making it out to the lake or river.
Thanks!

Don't know if it was me or not, but Cabin Creek does make them (as do other mfg's & some of our jig tying members).
Locally, they're used quite often for bedding gills ... usually under a float & with a waxworm threaded on the hook. Channel Catfish catches are a secondary result of using this setup :p
A pop-eye jig under a float is a po boy's FnF rig ... and a known Bass catching setup (w/o any live or artificial additions).
The Pop-eye jig .. on a 2' leader ... attached to the front hook ring of a deep diving crankbait = a good White Bass, Hybrid Striped Bass setup. Used for trolling.
