Thanks GCD. If folks want to throw in their cricket hooking method also, that would be great. I'm sure there's more that one way to hook a cricket.

Ditto GCD. I hook them under the collar right behind the head and through the stomach and out the butt.

Eagle Claw 072A 2X Long Shaft #6.....hard to find.....small enough for crickets...strong enough to catch 20lb. catfish........

I use the same hook for bream and catfish under corks or bottom bouncin'....

I'm going to try that method, I've always hooked them right below the head from side to side and once part of the cricket has been bitten off it seems the Bream don't want anything to do with the rest of it. The way you do it the whole Cricket is hooked and not just the head, I like that.

I do mine opposite of that, but the same way! I put the point in the butt and thread the cricket on and bring the point out the collar. I don't think either way is wrong, and it does make it a lot harder for the little thieves to steal the cricket without getting hooked!

This is what I have always used, didn't know there were that many options. This hook works perfectly.

I most times when I run out will buy a 50 pk. of eagle claw 6 ott plain shank hooks. They are almost never out of stock at walmart and I buy most of my tackle there for good prices because the budget is tight.

I like the Eagle Claw 215 Series, bronze color, sizes 6 & 8. I use these hooks for minnows too. I get mine from Janns Netcraft. They are quick to fill the order and ship. The prices are reasonable too.
