    Default Oologah Update? 04/14

There is a lot to read about Eufaula on here lately but I haven't heard anyone talking about Oologah. Anyone been out lately?

If so, do you think they're getting close to moving shallow? With several warm days coming up I would think bank fishing should be primetime by this weekend.

Saturday afternoon the main lake temp was 51-52. Found some 58 in Hawthorne cove. Couldn't find a bite and only caught one dink by Bell Cove. Water in Bell Cove was 54. Tried bushes shallow, spider rigged the ledges in 10-12ft and the points close to spawning areas.
    Hey, tell me a story!

Oologah has been tough since the first cold front came through in early March. It all began with the Corp lowering the level two weeks before we got a drop of rain either here in Ok, or up in Ks. There were some fish that were actually caught up Talala Creek by DeerhunterOdie. I've been about 5 times and only once did I come home with enough to clean. Lazinback told me that his bride works with a person who got into some on the SE side of Wigganon riprap.
I dropped my boat off at Slip Corks place to let him try and figure out what's wrong with my Mercury. Hopefully, he'll be able to figure it out, get the part in, and have it together by Friday night. I have plans to take an 82 year old friend out. Eufaula is most likely the destination unless I start hearing some good things from Oologah.

    Default Lock Jaw

Me and the better half went out on Oologah yesterday and tried the rip rap at wiginon with no luck. Saw a few being caught but not many. Talked to a gentlemen at the Talala creek boat ramp and he said he had not seen anything this bad (as far as the bite goes) in a long time and he tries to fish a couple of times a week. We tried slow trolling minnows and Jigs, we tried minnows and jigs anchored and we even moved up into Talala creek, NOTHING, NOTA, Zilch, ZERO. Any suggestions for Oologah. Oh and Reaper I thru another Blade off the %^&**%$# plastic prop again last night. I am done with it!!!!!! Be looking for a stainless.

Hey Reaper, how many boats you got in the shop right now? Ill call you later to talk to you about your boat.

Hey lazinback, I would go to a allum prop. Stainless is nice but they are hard on gear sets, just my advice, take it for what its wirth.

Ive got a buddy that lives up there on Oola and hes also having no luck to speak of. Theres still time though.

Gosh, not very good news but they gotta spawn sometime right?! Hopefully with a few more days of consistent weather it'll start heating up!

OOPS, I said Slip Cork, not Slip Shot. Please forgive me. Only one boat and she is in your hands. Treat her good, it's her, or back in a tube float. Call me later.

I fished Oologah on Tuesday also. Same report as everybody else, 1 6 inch fish in about 4 hours. We talked to 2 other boats and they hadn't had a bite in about 6 hours of fishing. I guess it is back to Eufaula. Hopefully they will start on Oologah sometime.

We fished Friday 4-10 and Saturday 4-11 and it was tough. On Friday we fished the rip rap at Winganon and only caught one keeper the fish were suspended at 6 to 8 ft. We moved to Tallala creek and tried several locations but the wind forced us to the north bank by the boat ramp. We got semi-lucky there we noticed the fish were all suspended there at 6 feet and we ended up catching a 2.4, 2.0, and 3 more that weighed 1.75 each. We only had 7 fish that day but they did make a good mess of fillets. We tried again Sunday but only managed 4 keepers. I just think they're really hard to catch when they're suspended. We saw plenty of fish on the sonar but not many close to bottom.
