You can’t go wrong around the Pryor area as plenty of lakes around that area.
Alright OK crappie friends, I need some pointers. I am going to be retiring from the military soon and moving back home to Oklahoma. We are going to be looking at land in the next few weeks when home for the holidays, but I want to know what you all think about the lakes and nearby towns. I have not been home in a while and grew up around the Claremore and Okmulgee areas. I grew up pond hopping and now that I have a boat and kids, I spend most of my time on lakes here in Tennessee. What lakes/areas to avoid and what lakes/areas are great? Right now I lean towards the Muskogee/Checotah area for access to Eufala, Tenkiller, and Kerr lakes, no clue if those towns are good or not just seems like a pretty area will local lakes. I am also not opposed to the Oolagah lake area.
Things I gotta consider:
Plan on buying 50-75 acres somewhere.
My whole family likes the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.
I primarily fish for crappie and spend an equal amount of time pleasure boating.
Momma likes her amenities, so we have to be semi close (~30min or so) to a larger town ie: Tulsa, Ft. Smith, Stillwater.
Nothing west of I-35 and nothing anywhere near Norman.
Have truck, will travel. I don't mind a drive to a good lake, preferably I am under an hour to several lakes.
Not opposed to NW Arkansas.
This is meant to be fun and I am just curious what you guys think. Be honest, if a town is a dump I wanna know about it. lol
Thanks guys,
Jared

My .02 worth, Bartlesville, Ok. Hudson lake on the NW side of town, pretty good crappie/bass lake, or use to be anyway.
Tulsa, 45 mins away, tons of lakes within an hour of there, primarily Grand, Oolagah, Kaw, Skiatook, Copan, Birch, Blue Stem amongst other smaller ones.
Cost of living very reasonable, small town living with big town conveniences, plenty of land for sale around there.
Isn’t Bartlesville like 1.5 hours away from Hudson? Hudson’s like 20 minutes from Pryor and then you have Gibson, Tenkiller, Kerr or Grand close or within an hour away.
Don't know what happened, Duplicate post
Wagoner, Muskogee area puts you close to Ft. Gibson, Tenkiller, Eufala, Hudson, Grand, and Keystone. I spend most of my winter Fishing a dock on Ft. Gibson.
