This is what I use George.
I also pour a 1/4 oz slab spoon for crappie. I started using the ice spoons last summer when the Lone Stranger showed me how to make and use them. I don’t have a problem with learning new tricks from others.
Very interesting topic. I'm not interested in making them but I bought an assortment of silver spoons but never used them. Is silver a good color?

I get all my supplies from Barlow's. Think I pay less than $7 for 100 blades and around there for the hooks. They have all sorts of stuff for making your own lures. Ship pretty quick too.

I use an 0 with a #6 and bend the tail end in a vise before soldering. I bend the tail 90 degs. I add a split ring and tiny swivel. I retrieve it in a pump and flutter pattern. The bream and bass inhale it. The total lure weighs approx 1/20th oz. the flutter is deadly. Trout clobber it too. Sometimes I add a sliver of fly rind or thin piece of white leather to enhance the action.
Silver works for me in clear water. I get supplies from multiple sources. Some even direct from China
Interesting. I would like to know what mine weigh, but I don't have a scale small enough to measure them. I tie a few flies too and was thinking about adding a little feather to the end. Kinda hair jig/ spoon combination. Rainy day project I guess.

I use a size 0 willow leaf spinner blade and bend the bottom of the blade 90 degs then solder the #6 hook to the blade. I add a split ring to the hole in the blade then a tiny swivel so that I reduce the line twist when the spoon comes thru the water.. Now do you understand? if not let me know.

If you have a friend that does his own reloads he could weigh your spoon in terms of grains. I’m sure a conversion to fractions of an ounce could be found.
