It is a rosin core solder. The Lone Stranger showed me how to make them and he uses seperate flux and pure solder. The ice spoons come from Jann’s Netcraft and they are listed simply as ice spoons.
I have gotten into making my own spoons as well. But, being one that never leaves well enough alone, I had to try making mine out of different blades. My originals were willows, but now I'm using #0 Colorado's. I like them better and talk about small! They're just big enough to tip with a mini Bobby if fishing is really slow. Had pretty good luck so far. I'll try to get a pic or two of the new ones.

I read a remark on a post some where on CDC that said no one ever post when they don’t catch anything. I suppose for the most part that is true. There are however a few honest fisherman on here and I would fall into that catagory. I’ve been on the water since 9:00 am and so far have not yet had a single strike.
By now the wind is up and I have a long idle back to the ramp. It’s been a long time since I have been skunked so I’m going to try a couple more spots on the way back. I guess I’m stubborn that way.

Remember the old saying folks... "If your not going to catch fish then stay at the boat ramp" Unfortunately I spend to much time at the ramp.

I did fish yesterday but did not take pics because I did not clean fish. I have a 110 gallon tank at the house with a coy water pump in it that I sometimes throw crappie in if I don't feel like cleaning fish. I caught 10, 7 of which were legal.
I am tempted to go fishing now even though it is cold.
I know it's cold but I went fishing for a little while anyway. My fishing line kept freezing to my rod and also my reel. It was real cold or maybe reel cold. I stayed 2 hours and proved I could find them on a day like this and then went home. I only caught 5 but it's better than I would have done sitting in front of the fireplace. You know what they say. Crappie fishing isn't for pansies.

Actually it's: "Ice fishing without a shelter isn't for pansies". I once went out with a wind chill of minus 102, according to the radio in Dillon, Montana, immediately caught two burbot, and went home, wondering if my wife was right about me being crazy.
